Reid grew up in Canada, received a Health Administration degree & formed his opinions against government-run health care. In 1991, he escaped to America & worked in both sales & management for two medical insurance companies (Group Health Cooperative and Regence BlueShield) and two General Agencies (BenefitPort and BenefitMall).
As the Affordable Care Act ramped up, Reid was concerned with the high out of pocket costs and lack of control many Americans experienced. In 2009 he launched freshbenies – an engagement platform to help people control their healthcare. They combine practical tools such as advocacy, telehealth, and consumerism savings networks. freshbenies has made Inc5000’s fastest growing company list four times, and earned a 2019 Health Value Award. To date, freshbenies has saved clients more than $75 million in unnecessary medical costs.
One of his proudest moments came in 2019 when Reid was awarded the Texas Association of Health Underwriter’s Hollis Roberson Award for Outstanding Dedication to the Industry.
